Setting Your IP Address Manually

So here are some easy DIY steps for those of you looking to set your IP address manually.

First we’re going to check to see if DHCP is enabled.

1. Click start and go to Run.

2. Type cmd and click OK.

3. In the command prompt, type ipconfig/all.

4. The following should come up:

Next we’ll set the IP Address.

1. Click start and open up the control panel.

2. Click on Network and Internet Connections and go to Local Area Connection.

3. Under network tasks click “Change the Settings of this Connection”.

4. In the general tab, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then properties.

5. The properties box will appear and you will enter your IP address, subnet mask and default gateway.

Be sure not to enter the same IP address when typing them manually. An IP address conflict is when two computers in the same local network get assigned the same address. When this happens, neither computer will be able to function on the network.

The three main services that are provided by the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) are:

1. Flow control- It will slow down or speed up based on how fast information is being received or sent.

2. Congestion control- Helps to decrease congestion and helps performance.

3. Error-free data transfer – It rearranges out of order packets and makes sure that it arrives in order.

These days there is a lot of software created for the specific purpose of editing photos. Entire careers are dedicated to photo editing. However, recently photo editing websites are proving to be just as useful for the average person and a lot more user friendly. Today I tested them.

The first photo editing site that I used was Picnik. The site does not require users to have a log in, so it’s quick and easy to access. There were eight general options to edit the picture in the first category (rotate, crop, etc..). In the second category were picture effects that were very easy to use (posterize, black and white, sepia, etc..). Overall, it was a user friendly site that is excellent for basic editing.

The second photo editing site that I used was FotoFlexer. This site did not require a log in either. It had many options for editing. It also had many more picture effects than Picnik. The categories were set up and it took me through each step when editing the picture. It was a very helpful site and for basic editing it is very good.

The third photo editing site that I used was Flauntr. To use this site I had to register. I was having some trouble using it and finding certain effects and tools. The site itself is very sleek looking, but for the basic user I would stick to simple sites.

Of the three sites that I tried, I think FotoFlexer was the best of the three. After this, I do find that online photo editing sites are easy and useful.

Blogs are defined by wikipedia as a web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Short term for “web log”.

Blogs allow computer users to publish their own news and information. In the past, news was presented only by professional journalists, who could choose to leave out certain details if they wanted. Blogs are easy to make and made sharing news a lot easier.

What sets apart a blog from a regular web site is that web sites do not have the option to comment directly on the entry. Web sites are often just for information purposes. This makes blogs interactive.
